Fine Art
This week was the first of 2 fine art weeks, we were given the theme of 'body language' to explore and we spent a long time trying to pull apart this theme and look at it in new ways.
I choose to look at trying to portray 'journeys' in my piece so did experiments of walking while holding a graphite stick, and trying to draw a map of were I've walked.
One experiment which I feel has a lot of potential is the idea of flight paths and exploring, I got a map and tried to draw some of the many flight paths, I then traced the lines I really like the shapes and overlapping web like lines, I think next I will try stitching the lines or making photograms. I really enjoy this experimental nature of this week and like how one idea leads you onto so many new pathways. I have found this week by not restricting yourself by thinking about the media you want to use, or your final idea you are open to new possibilities within your work. this idea was made so much clearer on Thursday with our visit to the Tate modern.
In the Tate there was lots of pieces which really sparked my imagination and got me thinking about what I could do in my own project.
this piece by Julian Trevelyan interested me as I really liked the connected shapes and lines which you could follow with your eyes, an each time you looked at the piece I found a different part.
Another artist how will inspire my pieces was the work of Louise Bourgeois, the idea of fabric books really appeals to me, in one of her pieces- Ode a la bievre, she presents an abstract visual poem, this relates well to my theme of journeys, as the you go on a journey throughout the book for the poem.
