Repurpose
This title has lead me in different directions and in conclusion I am happy with the different pieces I have produced.
When given the title- Repurpose, I had lots of ideas but decided to look at the idea of repurposing old technologies and how a new technology replaces the one before. I felt this idea had a lot of potential, one key point that I learn in the first days of this project, is to choose a theme where there is some observational items you can start with drawing as this was a good starting point.

From doing drawings I recognised a lot of shapes and interesting lines which could produce some unusual prints. Paintings by Misato Suzuki interested me, I could see the similarities between the lines in his work and the tape which I wanted to print, one piece of Suzukis which I thinks works well had a series of circle which overlapped deepening the colour in these areas.
I tried a range of different prints but found the tape out of a cassette created interesting swirly lines. To develop this I decided to do 2 colour prints, I first created backgrounds in a coral colour then did a second print over the top with a turquoise colour.
These are the images of my 2 coloured prints which I think are successful because of the contrast between the colours.
I also created CD etchings using the marks found on my drawings I did. I created backgrounds using some of my original coral backgrounds and tissue paper circles which I overlapped like in Suzukis piece. The colour scheme I used is bright and cheerful and uses three colours found on the original CDs, I am really pleased with the effect of these etchings and think the pieces work well as a set.
