hello beautiful... :)
For the past 4 weeks we have been working on a live brief for the hello
beautiful foundation.
Hello beautiful is a cancer charity with a positive ethos which we had to reflect in our work.
Quite early on in the project I
found some positivity quotes- such as every cloud has a silver lining, that wanted to focus my work around. I did experimental
drawings relating to the quotes I thought the mixture of paper cut shapes and ink drawings worked well and I could see potential in the shapes for some prints.
The illustrator Jonny Hannah inspired me a lot with the brief as the use of type was something I was interested in using. The pieces have a fun vibrant feel with a mixture of block colours and line drawings.

I scanned in my drawings and used Photoshop to layer and manipulate the
drawings. I had never used Photoshop before so learnt many different
techniques.
I transferred the drawings into 1 colour from the Hello Beautiful colour scheme. by doing this the focus was on the shapes and patterns in the designs which made it easier to layer the pieces and make them work together. also by changing the colours the intensity of some of the ink was shown which I really liked.

When doing the star piece I first tried using a combination of pink and blue but I thought it was too bright and the pieces did not work harmoniously together so I tried using the lilac which I preferred.

I tried many compositions these are my finished designs.
I wanted the 2 pieces to work well as a set so the type is the same in both pieces and the pieces both use the same blue colour.
