Beginning the Final Major Progect
This week all our pathway work has been marked and we have begun on out final major project writing our statement of intent and starting to gather and research into are chosen titles.
We had to think about our title, gathering ideas from magazines and books, as this Final Major Project lasts for 12 weeks the theme we chose has to really interest us and inspirer us.
As the environment and social diversity interests me I began to look in the life science books in the library for a possible theme. I collected many quotes and statements and mind mapped a couple before deciding on the theme of ' A Very Special Home'. This was a title of one of the pages in the book Wonders of Life by Brian Cox and Andrew Cohen.
I think this title has lodes of potential because not only could I look at the obvious- my home, I could also look at more interesting questions such as What is home? Is home different for everything and everyone? Therefore having the potential to inspirer some really imaginative and interesting pieces of art.
On Thursday we when to London to the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery to help get us started collecting research for our projects. The work of Grayson Perry I found interesting because his work portrays individuals who are portrayed in a certain way. I found the piece Comfort Blanket interesting as its included all the things that make you a person without being a direct image of a person, this makes me think about my own project- what makes a home?
Next week is all about collecting inspiration, in the form of articles from books and magazines, collage materials and artist research.
