I started off this week by continuing with the idea of connecting papers with stich, I made this patchwork piece using magazine photographs and scraps of papers and words and then in the gaps I used dissolvable fabric. When creating this piece I only concentrated on the one side but once dried I turned the piece over and realised the back was also interesting as I like the use of text. Overall I like the effect but I felt it needed to relate to home more.
I created another one of these patchwork pieces using photocopies of my own photos. I think the use of photos relate my work back to 'home'.
Putting oil on the back of the photocopies they gain a gives them a translucent effect, I rubbed acrylic paint giving the pieces some colour, but the oil gives the piece a greasy texture which meant I could not work back into them.

Also, I used the photocopies for emulation transfer pieces. I like the use of wood and I will experiment further with transfer images as I like the scruffy effect which has potential for being layered.
While researching on Lancia trendvision I came across a science image which led me to do experimental work using wood and thread. The thread represents connections between people and communities.

Next week I want to continue experimenting with the idea of connections, but find a way to include imagery or words that relate to 'home' to make it more personal to me as this is how I feel these pieces need developing.
