Continuing developing- week 12+13 (Easter holiday)
I have continued to work through the list of experiments I wished to try as well as letting my ideas evolve.
The connections web I made got me thinking of spiders webs and animals homes. I have found out how spiders make their webs and copied this.
Although I am pleased with the result I feel that this piece is too much like the real spiders web and it does not relate to the intangible meaning of 'home' which I am interested in showing through my work.

One of my ideas on the list was to make a book using the cut circle pages. I cut concentric circles then using the dissolvable fabric I sewed a web onto 2 pages.
Sewing onto the pages was difficult as the spine started to split and pages started to rip.
Also I couldn't reach all parts with a sewing machine. I overcame this problem by sewing onto the fabric separately them sewing the fabric to the page

Another one of my ideas was to write words associated with 'home' onto building blocks to represent how we have to build our 'home', showing in a tangible way the intangible aspects of 'home'.
I cut a range of different shape blocks out of hard and soft wood which gave me a variety of different grains to work with.
I used letterset to write words onto each block. I like the idea of these blocks and how its a really simple way of showing quite a complex idea.
Using words on the blocks is one way I can show 'home' however I would like to try out more ways perhaps adding drawings with acetate or drawing directly onto the blocks.
One idea I had was to wrap the bock in dissolvable fabric which I had stitched onto. I was unsure if the stitching would stay in place once the fabric had been dissolved.
Fortunately the stitching did stay in place the sides were the edges were sewn together are quite messy which I do not like but now I know how the stitching will stay in place I could use this on a larger scale as I like the net like effect which is made.
