week 11- further developing
This week has been about pushing my ideas further and continuing working down the list of experiments I wish to try.
I wanted to try making a handing piece using fabric scraps with circles cut out. I choose to use prayer flags because of their athsetic qualities of the printed text, and due to the original use- for blessing the surroundings of where the flag is hung, taking prayers in the wind.
I cut circles and filled them with words relating to 'home'. Although I like the idea of creating a hanging piece I have found out that using the thin flag fabric is not an appropriate material as when stiching the fabric ruckled up.

Also this week I have started this map piece, I cut circles and sewed words into the gaps, and I also ripped bits away and blanked parts out to show how 'home' is not a place. I need to do more work on this piece over the holidays.
Also in the holidays I will work through the list of experiments I would like to try, and I want to resolve some of the pieces I have started.
