week 2

This week I have been carrying on with the different projects.

Textiles has been really interesting, a technique that we tried was making silk paper it sort of has a texture in between paper and felt and is so quick to make as it just involves heating fibers in a heat press and there is potential to draw and sew onto it which I'm looking forward to trying.

this image shows how I cut the paper
Another technique we tried was using disperse dyes, I really liked this technique. First I tried cutting out strips from painted paper but once I got more idea of how it worked I decided to cut of smaller pieces creating a stain glass window design.

the negatives also created an interesting print.

This had a illustrative quality to it and I can see the potential if I did some fine paper cut work.

I tried drawing with the dyes. I enjoyed finding out the different materials which work well, I love this technique and think this technique has a lot of potential on different textures and would like to try mixing my own colours.

The sculptures we made in 3D last week has been bisque fired so we put glazes onto them, This is quite an interesting area and I would like to learn to make my own glazes.i chose to keep my colours quite simple only using 1 colour on most of my pieces as i want the forms to be the main focus to each piece.
